Dingbo Gr

Dingbo Gr

Period:
Carboniferous

Age Interval:
C2 (65), Late Carboniferous

Province:
Xizang (Tibet)

Type Locality and Naming

The type section lies from Seerdiqu to Dingbo, eastern part of Qusum District, Zhada County, Tibet. It was named by the Regional Geological Survey Party of Tibetan Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources in 1987, and formally adopted by Fan Yingnian in 1988.

Lithology and Thickness

Claystone and Marl. Dark-gray to black gray and gray-green slates and phyllites, commonly containing carbonaceous and silty materials, intercalated with marl in both the upper and the lower parts, with marble near the bottom or in the Lower part, and limonite near the Upper part. Strata of this group are seriously wrinkled, with a flat attitude, and no discovery of fossils. Exposed thickness ~4000 m.

It is quite similar to the Guchang Gr and Mushirabuka Gr in terms of sedimentary formation features, and close in lithology to the Bikong Fm of Langmari Gr in the XigazĂȘ area.

Lithology Pattern:
Continental marl
